What's Going on with Elaine?
I know I've been MIA for some time now. A lot of crappy stuff happened to me in March, and I sort of fell off the face of the earth for a while. But now I'm back!

Since my last post, both The Sundered Stone and Bad-Ass Faeries have been released. I'm also now involved in an upcoming anthology, Nothing But Red, and I've been invited to participate in two other anthologies as well.

My biggest news, at least to me, is that I'm reaching the end of Exile's Burn. As of this writing, I'm going back through the book on the computer and fixing/self-editing. I need to do some major rewrites of Chapter 45, and I still need to write the epilogue as well. Once that's done, I'll go through the book yet again, on paper this time. I'll also start looking for an editor to hire. After the book is edited, it will remain online as a free ebook, but a print version (and possibly a deluxe ebook version) will be made available through Lulu.

Um, and that's about it. The exciting life of an author!

Sorry to hear about March! I hope everything is better now.

I've got Bad-Ass Faeries! Gonna start reading it on Thursday if all goes as planned. Really looking forward to that read because it looks like an interesting anthology.

I'm downloading Exile's Burn now. If I got some cash when it becomes available via Lulu I will probably go that route as I like a paper book a lot better than the digital kind. Good luck with the edits!

Thanks! Things are looking up now.

I hope you like BAF--there are some great stories in the anthology and I'm not just saying that because I'm in it. :-)

Did you originally post this on MySpace as well, and then delete it? 'Cause I got a message that you had posted a new blog entry, but when I got there, there was nothing new, and I got mighty confused. :-S

And I knew about this entry 'cause it was listed as an incoming link on the NBR site stats. Yes, I check them obsessively.

Oh, and it's Skyla. And I posted a new MySpace entry all about my Marcus/Juanita obsession. ;-)

I did, but then I realized I'd already said most of it in the previous post. I'm a dork.

At least I'm not insane then, lol.

Well, I am, but not in this particular instance. ;-)

You found me! Awesome, I didn't know you had an LJ account.

I should post a review of the book that I read of yours. :)

Reviews are always welcome.

Elaine,
I'm one of your volunteers (whatever you call them--can't remember--the ones who deliver bookmarks and things)...
I'm also a professional copyeditor, so if that's the level of editing you're looking for, let me know... (And yes, I just now--August 27--got around to reading your blog from July 17.)
I may as well confess I've been copyediting it as you went along...couldn't seem to help myself.
So if you're looking for a copyeditor for Exile's Burn, I'd be glad to do it at no charge--especially since a lot of it is already done! If you're looking for a developmental/line/other type editor, I'm not experienced at that so I couldn't help.
Anyway, if you want to explore that further, I'd be glad to send resume etc. just so you know I'm legit.

Hi Ann! How are things in in the Triad area? I appreciate the offer, but I found an editor shortly after I posted this. In fact, he just sent the final chapter back today. :-) However, I will keep you in mind, because I will certainly need copyediting again in the future.
